So… Apple has just announced the new iPhone X. It features the Super Retina Display, TrueDepth Camera System, Face ID and a new A11 Bionic Chip with Neural Engine. The question is should you buy it?
Specs from Cupertino
“For more than a decade, our intention has been to create an iPhone that is all display. The iPhone X is the realisation of that vision,” said Jony Ive, Apple’s chief design officer. We finally have this available to us and it’s quite exciting to say the least.
The iPhone X features an all-glass design with a 5.8-inch Super Retina display, the A11 Bionic chip, wireless charging and an improved rear camera with dual optical image stabilisation. iPhone X delivers an innovative and secure new way for customers to unlock, authenticate and pay using Face ID, enabled by the new TrueDepth front camera.
Thoughts
Apple has held on to the crown for years now, based on the iPhone architecture. They are fast phones that are incredibly easy to use and iOS is simply the most streamlined phone OS around. Apple has worked hard to create this next release with even more promising specs. Used widely in many creative industries the email, messaging and camera apps have become daily essentials to the modern day phone user.
The question here is why would you buy it over a normal iPhone 8 or 8 Plus? Well, that comes down to you as a buyer, but I feel the winner here is that you have a phone sized perfectly. You have plenty of screen space now that the phones display is edge to edge but the chassis of the phone is not as big as a 8 Plus and bigger then a usual iPhone 8. We also now have wireless charging, animated emojis and further improved cameras. Sound Tempting?
Conclusion
I feel that the new iPhone X will be a “go to device” purely because it is such a step forward for Apple and when Apple do something, whether it’s the new face recognition or the new portrait mode for the camera, they seem to implement everything right. The product always seems to work and deliver on its promise. Users around the world will probably wait for the X to release, so make sure to get your orders in as soon as you can! Pre-Order the iPhone X from Friday, October 27 and expect it to arrive on the 3rd November!
