Supercar Roadtrip Through Yorkshire With Michelin & Supercar Driver

We recently embarked upon an epic road trip to Yorkshire with our friends at Michelin & Supercar Driver. Weapon of choice? The Mercedes Benz AMG GTC Roadster

Michelin has a long and powerful history. They are notoriously known for their premium tyres. These tyres sit on the best of cars and provide a huge support in the safety, performance and economy of the car but there is also another side to Michelin as a company…

We were just invited on an exceptional drive around the UK’s best driving routes with Michelin and Supercar Driver to discover Yorkshire.

Michelin

The Michelin brothers Ándre and Édouard started The Michelin Guide in 1900 covering France. During this time there were less then 3000 cars registered in the country and Michelin created this guide to mark locations of hotels, mechanics, fuel stations and restaurants. In 1926 the very first Michelin stars were presented to restaurants of good quality. In 1933 the format changed and extended to awarding one, two or three stars and that is a system that remains in place today.

This goes to show the massive connection Michelin has with motoring, touring, food, travel and lifestyle. Very much like ourselves at mr.goodlife!  The trip that was arranged was to explore the stunning settings of Yorkshire in performance cars, all sitting on Michelin Tyres of course, and along the way we were able to see some sights such as the Ribblehead Viaduct, the Village of Reeth, Castle Bolton and the Leighton Reservoir.

Onwards To Yorkshire

When we were invited to attend this supercar road trip in the Yorkshire Dales, we were immediately excited to tour with such a well-travelled company and we got to push the fantastic AMG GTC through its paces. Of Course. (Check out our partner review on mrgoodlife.de)

Performance driving the majority of the time, we were able to enjoy the absolute power of our cars and a with a screaming convoy of McLaren’s, Porsches, Lamborghini’s, Jaguars, Astons and of course our AMG, we could be heard and seen from all around. The attention we got in some of the small towns was awesome and one beautiful moment was when a young boy from Reeth came out of his house to see the convoy of cars. His eyes wide open and his face full of joy, I had to stop and chat with him about our AMG GTC for a moment before continuing on. With plenty of bendy roads and high speed straights we were immersed in this countryside surrounding with just our engines and our emotions! It was a truly special drive with brilliant route planning and stops.

With beautiful mountain passes, valleys, marshy hills and fantastic driving roads, the Yorkshire dales had so much to offer for a supercar driver! We highly recommend taking a car out and getting some drive time. The surrounding towns and villages are beautiful, too. Just don’t forget your Michelin Guide! 

Dinner With A Star

Our trip ended at the Yorke Arms, a beautiful 18th century shooting lodge turned Michelin Star Restaurant. The property has gorgeous surroundings and you are really in the heart of the dales, with access to brilliant locally sourced food prepared by head chef, Frances Atkins. She is a fellow of the Masterchef’s of Great Britain, and one of only six female Michelin starred chefs in the United Kingdom. Michelin chose a really cosy, traditional yet contemporary setting for the drivers to share a brilliant dinner and the evening was full of laughter and fun.
