The 10 Million Dollar Car – The McLaren F1
The McLaren F1 is one of the most legendary supercars in the world. An enthusiastic britian spend about 10 million dollar (7.1 million euros) for one of the vehicles. The British Daily Mail reported that the anonymous buyer is in good company. Only 106 cars were made between 1993 and 1997. The number of vehicles with road approval is even limited to only 64 pieces. Some of them are in the garages of celebrities such as the U.S. talk show host Jay Leno, actor Rowan Atkinson and fashion designer Ralph Lauren. Even the former Beatle George Harrison was in possesion of a F1 until his death in 2001.
When the first McLaren F1 left the production facility in 1993 it was with a purchase price equivalent to around 750,000 euros, the most expensive production car in the world . The 7.1 million euro are not only a tremendous increase in value, but make the car the most expensive modern car in the world . For comparison, a Bugatti Veyron, is available for only 1.3 million euros .
